Kaichi Nihonbashi Gakuen Junior and Senior High School (KNG) is proud to announce that it has been officially authorized by the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization to implement the Middle Years Programme (MYP) in Tokyo, Japan. This achievement further advances the school’s institutional commitment to foster 21st century leaders and engaged global citizens through inquiry-based learning. In addition, the school is currently pursuing IB Diploma Programme authorization and intends to establish a six-year continuum for IB learning.

KNG’s educational philosophy is “to develop global-minded leaders who respect and appreciate how cultural diversity enriches our own lives and furthermore, actively contribute to the realization of a peaceful and affluent international society.“ To this end, KNG seeks to cultivate a learning environment that promotes learner autonomy, self-guided inquiry and all aspects of the IB Learner Profile.

The MYP framework plays a significant role in curriculum development and assessment strategy at KNG, especially in the two IB courses – the Dual Language Class (DLC) and the Global Leading Class (GLC). However, the school’s educational philosophy and core elements of IB-style learning are evident throughout all offered academic courses including the Leading Class (LC), Advanced Class (AC), and high school programs. KNG faculty members regularly undertake IB-related professional development and utilize teaching and learning strategies that foster international mindedness through independent inquiry-based and project-based learning.

The faculty at KNG are excited to join the IB World School community and would like to thank the current KNG parents and students for their ongoing and tremendous support – without it, such an accomplishment would not be possible. As we prepare for next year, we strongly encourage any students who aspire to become independent leaders and are eager to develop their own inquiry skills to apply for admission.
